Kevin Feige is thinking of James McAvoy to play Darkhawk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
James McAvoy has already played a fairly prominent character from Marvel comics taking on the role of Charles Xavier in Fox’s X-Men saga. As we wait for the X-Men to make their grand entrance to the game. Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor has been asked many times if he would reprise that role. While many of the actors who acted in the X-Men films would be delighted at the opportunity to return, James McAvoy has said that his time in the franchise is over and he would not return. However, I would go back to a Marvel movie as long as it took on an interesting and well-written character. And that moment seems to have come. According Giant Freakin Robot Thanks to information from a trusted internal source, Marvel would be thinking of James McAvoy for the Darkhawk character.
This plan would come from Kevin Feige himself, the head of Marvel, although they have not revealed more information on whether Marvel Studios has already spoken with the actor, and in which Marvel project the introduction of Darkhawk would fit.
For one thing, this means they’re open to bringing in an actor like James McAvoy who worked on Fox-owned X-Men movies for a completely different role. Which means that when the X-Men arrive, it would not have to be the same actors who necessarily repeat their roles, although with the entry of the multiverse you never know.
On the flip side, this news tells us that Marvel plans to bring Darkhawk into the future of the MCU at some point in the future, whether or not James McAvoy is interested. Darkhawk is also known as Chris Powell. He first appeared in comics in the 1990s. He’s not as well known as a character like Professor X, and that may appeal to McAvoy after playing such a well-known character in the past.
This raises a big question as to when the Marvel Cinematic Universe is looking to bring in Darkhawk. Right now, Disney + is working on the series Secret invasion with Nick Fury. It might be a little late to bring in James McAvoy now that production has started, but Darkhawk was present at the Skrull invasion in the comics. Interestingly, the character also has some ties to Starfox, who was just introduced in the post-credits scene for The Eternals. It is unknown which movies or series will make Harry Styles reappear as Starfox. It will be interesting to see if Marvel uses any of these links from the comics to bring Darkhawk to the MCU or if they have other plans for the character in the future.
About Darkhawk
The character of Darkhawk was created by the writer Tom DeFalco and the artist Mike manley in 1991. His secret identity is the teenager Chris Powell, who found an amulet in an abandoned amusement park that traded his body for that of an android in an alternate dimension that he could control.
Initially he fought street crime, but Darkhawk finally intervened in the cosmic Marvel stories. Furthermore, Chris discovered over time that the origin of the Darkhawks was much more complicated and that their amulet was actually from Null Space. Furthermore he was part of a race of warriors called “Raptors”. Eventually Chris and the Darkhawk armor were fused into one, giving him even more shocking powers.
Although this is the best known story, in August of last year the reboot of the character was launched with the amulet passing into the hands of another young teenager named Connor Young.
