In 2022, it is recorded that more than one billion people in the world suffer from some type of psychological disorder.
It is predicted that by 2030 mental health will be the leading cause of disability in the world.
In 2020, depression and anxiety already cost the world economy close to a trillion dollars.
In recent years, the ways of communicating have changed, thanks to social networks, which have provided us with endless tools. With this, many people use these platforms to ask for help in the most difficult moments, as the OnlyFans model Karely Ruiz recently did, who alerted her fans to a strange message where she claims she is not going through her best moment.
Although many people turn to social networks due to the increase in mental health cases that are registered in the world, specialists and various studies show how these spaces can be a great ally to combat these diseases.
One of these is the study presented by the University of Wisconsin–Madison of the United States, which denies this relationship, after carrying out a survey where the participants had to answer how much time they spent on the Internet and what pages they visit.
In that sense, the researchers discovered that young people spent more than half of the time they were connected on Facebook, but they found no relationship between the use of social media and the probability of depression.
For its part, another investigation carried out by McClellan in which they analyzed 176 million tweets published from 2011 to 2014 related to depression and suicide, showed several peaks in the publication of these messages, associated with events such as World Prevention Day. of Suicide.
Meanwhile, other research maintains that platforms such as Twitter or YouTube can be positive for people with severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Karely Ruiz depressed?
The famous OnlyFans model has alerted her fans, after writing a message on her social networks, where she assured that she was not having a good time, but that she knows she will succeed.
“I am not at my best, my people, I am going through very strong things, but you know something, I am a woman who is not going to let herself fall for anything in the world, for nothing or anyone, so go ahead, let the people who do things with the intention of hurting you are going wrong…”, Karely wrote in one of her stories on Instagram.
Also, among his writing, he asked his millions of followers “just don’t let me fall that I don’t even trust my own shadow at this rate.”
Given this, the influencer received millions of comments and alerted them to the state in which they can be found regarding their mental health.
This demonstration of the model is not the only one that has set off alarms when it comes to this issue in the entertainment industry, since last week the Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz also shared with his fans in a tweet that he is not feeling emotionally very good.
“I’m not well. I don’t know if this is any use, but I want to say it. I am sad and tired. In case someone else believes that there must always be a sea breeze or a firework on a summer night,” said the singer. Then, Sanz referred to his imminent performance on Spanish soil: “I’m working to make it go away… I’ll get to the stage and something inside will tell me what to do. But sometimes I don’t even want to be. Literally. Just to be honest. For not going into useless noise, ”he said in a post on his Twitter account.
This publication caught the attention of fans and the press, who did not wait to offer their support and help to the artist.
And this is how digital platforms are not only used for entertainment, but can be a great tool to communicate what we feel and often even receive help.
