True to their monthly appointment, the guys from Samsung have just released a new security update for the month we are in, a security update for the Galaxy Note 9 , a terminal that within a month, when the Galaxy Note 20, will be two years in the market.
This new security update corresponding to the month of July for the Galaxy Note 9, does not include any new function since it focuses on patching the different security flaws that have been detected in the last month both in Android and in the layer of Samsung customization for this model.
The firmware number is N960FXXS6ETG1, the firmware that patches 4 critical vulnerabilities detected in Android and 14 vulnerabilities in the customization layer of this terminal. The most interesting, as well as important, is the one that crashed the devices that use a specific background, a failure due to Android’s interpretation of the image’s color codes, not the image itself.
Other vulnerabilities that are fixed after installing this update are those that caused unauthorized memory access that allowed exposing important data and an exploit that allowed write access to the SD card.
This new update is available via OTA (Over The Air), this allows us to connect our smartphone to the charger, access terminal settings and select Download and install updates. If it is not yet available in your country, you can go through the SamMobile boys’ website to download and install it manually through a PC on your Galaxy Note 9, a process that is not complicated but requires a series of steps that to some users can be complex.
