José Granda, PhD., Ecuadorian scientist, engineer, and NASA spokesman, received recognition as member of the highest scientific level of the Simulation and Modeling Society. This was awarded by The Society of Modeling and Simulation International (SCS), in Spanish The International Society for Modeling and Simulation International.
This, for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the fields of modeling and mathematical simulations which aim to reproduce the reality of space and terrestrial vehicles. This is how you can understand the application of the laws of physics with which vehicles operate in space or on earth.
This prize of the highest scientific level that an international scientific organization bestows is a recognition that is also due for establishing a high reputation in the industry through the positions held and the advances made to science-oriented teaching and publications in his 40 year career.
Trajectory of the Ecuadorian scientist
Granda has published 14 books, compendiums of scientific writings in his field, as well as approximately 70 scientific papers of his own.
In this context, The Society of Modeling and Simulation International (SCS) bestowed this award for demonstrating a long-standing commitment to his field of research through a four-decade career.
The Society of Modeling and Simulation International (SCS) is a Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 1952 as a volunteer-driven, non-profit corporation. The president of the Society for Modeling and Simulation (SCS), Dr. Björn Johansson, in a letter, expressed to Dr. Granda:
“Leaders and mentors like you will continue to be a role model for others, both within our organization, as well as within the world of modeling and simulation in general.”
Thus, Professor Granda, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at California State University, who has been working for NASA for more than 20 years and who helped put the Discovery shuttle into orbit, as well as other emblematic projects in which is working.
He was designated SCS Fellow 2022, which is a unique award, since there is only one each year, for all countries in the world.
