One of the most surprising projects that James Gunn announced as part of the new DC Universe was Swamp Thing. The tape caught the attention of many because of the approach that they want to give it, and because of how it could contrast with the rest of the projects. And just one day after its completion becomes official, Swamp Thing it already has director James Mangold captivated, who could bring it to the big screen.
In accordance with The Hollywood ReporterMangold, who is currently working in post-production on Indiana Jones: The Call of Fate, is in talks with Warner Bros. Discovery to join the new wave of DC Studios projects. Undoubtedly, hiring him would be very good news, since having a respected director in the industry could give credibility to the company’s next films.
According to James Gunn:
“It will be a very dark story full of terror. The origins of this monster called Swamp Thing will be told. And while the tone of him seems to be a far cry from the rest of the DCU, he’ll still fit in with the rest of the stories.”
The first indication that the talks between Mangold and DC Studios are a reality was released on Tuesday night. He is also director of Logan (2017) posted an image of the character on his Twitter account. Immediately, fans began to speculate about his possible relationship with the film. Minutes later, James Gunn added to the rumors by retweeting the post on his account.

Who is Swamp Thing?
The character, also known as “The Swamp Thing”, arises when Alec Holland and his wife invent a Bio-Restorative formula in order to solve food shortages in certain areas of the world. One day, a group of thugs break into his laboratory, knock him unconscious, and plant a bomb there. However, Alec manages to escape and runs off burning into the swamp. His body was drenched in the formula and mixed with the plant life of the swamp.creating a terrifying new life form.
Among his powers are control of the earth and manipulation of plant matter, superhuman strength, immortality, resurrection, self-sufficiency (he is able to nourish himself) and chlorokinesis (ability to commune with plant life and control its growth and shape).
