Black Adam It is already in theaters throughout Mexico. The new installment of the DCEU finally reaches the big screen after years of expectation, delays and much controversy in said cinematographic universe. Dwayne Johnson finally gets a chance to debut as one of his favorite characters. And although the fans are eager to see it, it seems that they must curb their expectations, because the approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes has not been very favorable for Black Adam.
The criticism embargo was released on October 18, so dozens of critics around the world were able to upload their opinion to the controversial portal. Though the tape debuted with more than 60% of approval, currently stands at 53% with 91 reviews counted. It is worth mentioning that this type of film usually collects hundreds of opinions, so it is still early to know what its final destination will be. However, seeing the trend it has followed, it is most likely to continue downward.
Currently, Black Adam ranks on Rotten Tomatoes as the worst rated DCEU movie since League of Justice in 2017. This is how it ranks if we compare them all:
- Wonder Woman 93%
- Shazam! 90%
- the suicide squad 90%
- Birds of prey 79%
- Zack Snyder’s Justice League 71%
- Aquaman 65%
- Wonder Woman 1984 58%
- man of steel 56%
- Black Adam 53%
- League of Justice 39%
- batman v superman 29%
- suicide squad 26%
Given these results, DCEU fans went against Rotten Tomatoes. After years of higher-rated products, many accused the site of having a hatred for DC productions. Some even made fun of certain criticisms that they considered ridiculous, and considered it unacceptable that other movies or series with “lower quality” (according to them) had a higher percentage of approval.
Although 53% is not a disastrous percentage, it is clear that Warner Bros expected a better result. At the end of the day, the study promised that Black Adam it would change the hierarchy of power in the DCEU. But such a percentage doesn’t represent a great power, right?
Do you think that Black Adam deserves such a low approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes? Will that reception affect its box office potential? The film features performances by Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Viola Davis and Pierce Brosnan.
John Joseph Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the cinema up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movies.
