One of the main problems of public health is the lack of investment and precarious technology. Those affected are not only the patients but also the doctors because they cannot exploit their capacities. This situation can be seen in many units of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste) where the most recent advances are not yet available.
With this in mind, in order to achieve real change, the expansion of the coverage of the digital system platform was announced. Environment for the Administration and Improvement of Health Care (Amates). It currently operates in only 14 pilot medical units but now it is hoped to increase the number to 512 first-level contact, reported the deputy director of Information Technology, Alejandra Fernandez Velez.
Full digital service for all first contact physicians
He specified that, in 2023, the updating of the entire technological infrastructure of the institute in information technologies. This sub-directorate will continue to implement solutions and tools focused on the priority of strengthening and guaranteeing access to health services.
“Aamates will allow us to digitize the entire clinical care process. From scheduling a medical consultation, file information in the clinical file, somatometry data (weight and height metrics), patient vital signs, external consultation and electronic prescription issuance with digital signature, which is already connected to the pharmacy system ”.
These are projects that make it possible to provide better health care to the beneficiaries and, above all, have the clinical file available in any of the country’s medical units.
This action provides traceability of the entire medical care process up to the delivery of medicines. It is a very important advance for the ISSSTE in its objective of streamlining clinical processes, reducing expenses in duplication of diagnostic studies, reducing bureaucratic procedures and improving the quality of care for patients.
He informed that during the second phase the implementation of Aamates in second and third level hospitalsto have a guide to outpatient, emergency and hospitalization services.
In plans a new ISSSTE app
He announced that, shortly, the institute will make available to the beneficiaries a new app to schedule medical appointments from your cell phone.
Another challenge to consolidate in the year that is beginning in terms of information technology is the patient referral and counter-referral system. In this way, it will facilitate the identification and follow-up of each beneficiary from the moment they enter the first level general medical consultation and are channeled to the second or third level of care to receive specialized medical consultation.
“Our objective is to monitor the service route where our patients are treated and to know where they are, in order to have clear indicators of the flow in the processes of specialty care and high medical specialty.”
He pointed out that, in 2022, several programs were consolidated, such as the home oxygen monitoring system, which monitors from the time the service is prescribed until our provider delivers it to each patient. Also the launch of the Asissste portal, from which all beneficiaries can today make an appointment via chat or internet, in addition to requesting the personal credit process.
Taken together, these advances contribute to now having better metrics to monitor the operational results of the health system, as well as streamlining services and care for beneficiaries in medical units, a priority objective of the institute.
