Although everything seemed to indicate that Thor: Love and Thunder would be a success, it seems that this is not the case. Although there are still a couple of days left for the film’s release, critics have already had the opportunity to enjoy Taika Waititi’s new film with Chris Hemsworth, and the reception is not as positive as many hoped.
Currently, Thor: Love and Thunder has a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this taking into account 158 reviews so far. In this way, the new installment of the MCU is positioned as one of the worst in this series of films.
With only 71% approval, Thor: Love and Thunder rubs shoulders with movies like Iron Man 2 and its 72%, The Incredible Hulk and its 67%, Thor: The Dark World and its 66%, and Eternals with 47%. Even the first Thor movie has a better rating, currently boasting a 77% reception.
Certainly a clear contrast to Thor: Ragnarökwhich was also directed by Waititi, but currently has a 93% reception. At the end of the day, what Marvel and Disney really care about is the performance of the film at the box office. Although it is very likely that the billion will not be reached, at least $500 million dollars will go to the bags of these companies.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8. On related topics, these are the first opinions of this film. Similarly, this would be the future of Thor.
Editor’s Note:
At the end of the day, many people don’t take ratings into account, and only plan to go to the movies to see the next chapter of the MCU. However, it is interesting to see that critics are reacting negatively to a slightly more traditional film in this universe.
