Dragon Ball is the most important manga and anime in history. Akira Toriyama’s work is the one that accumulates the largest number of fans around the world; fact that is demonstrated whenever there is new material from this franchise.
It has been more than 36 years since Goku first appeared in a Japanese manga. And in the middle of 2022 they have just released a film that caught the old generations and attracted new followers.
However, it still has an outstanding debt: the live-action. There was a failed project 20th Century Fox and some very poor quality productions in Japan that broke the hearts of the fans of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan and the rest of the Z Fighters gang.
The only one that has the ability to do something acceptable is Disney. He demonstrated it with Marvel’s Shang Chi and they also have the rights for the big screen after the purchase of 20th Century Fox.
Precisely that last piece of information is what they used to sow a rumor on social networks.
Dragon Ball in 3D from Disney
Several digital media echoed by stating that it was official: “Disney-style Dragon Ball 3D” had already been announced. However, the portal IGN Latam was in charge of bringing down the fake news, due to the illustration they used.
Those who started this rumor used an illustration by designer Van Rose. The same author who, since he published his work in the Disney style, clarified that it was a FanArt.
Van Rose’s followers let him know the news that had come out from his creation and the illustrator replied, a little indignant “I can’t control what people want to invent”.
I can’t control what other people do. 🤷♂️

So let’s not get our hopes up about the integration of Disney into the universe of Akira Toriyama’s franchise. It is a possibility, but there is no indication that work has started on this project.
