If you live in California and in the areas of Alabama and Georgia that were affected by the natural disasters of this 2023, you should know that the deadline for you to catch up with your tax obligations is about to expire, indicated the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The entity reminded people and companies in the affected areas, which benefited from the tax relief, must declare their federal taxes and make their tax payments, corresponding to the year 2022.

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO COMPLY WITH TAX OBLIGATIONS IN CALIFORNIA, GEORGIA AND ALABAMA?
People and businesses in affected areas of California, Georgia and Alabama have until Monday, October 16, 2023 to comply with your federal tax return and pay your 2022 taxes. The regular date of April 18 was postponed for many residents of much of California and parts of areas of Alabama and Georgia, which were affected by the disasters natural at the beginning of the year.

US TAX RELIEF AREAS
Learn about the counties that obtained tax relief until October 16:
- Alabama: a total of 13 counties were affected by strong storms, straight line winds and tornadoes beginning on January 12. The affected areas are: Autauga, Barbour, Chambers, Conecuh, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Mobile, Morgan, Sumter and Tallapoosa.
- California: Fifty-five of the state’s 58 counties, except Lassen, Modoc and Shasta counties, were affected by severe winter storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and mudslides. The IRS help is based on three different disaster declarations from the FEMA spanning multiple jurisdictions and event timeframes.
- Georgia: nine counties Georgia (in English) were affected by strong storms, straight line winds and tornadoes beginning on January 12. The disaster area includes Butts, Crisp, Henry, Jasper, Meriwether, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Troup counties.

WHAT TAX OBLIGATIONS COULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL OCTOBER 16?
Eligible statements and payments include:
- 2022 personal income tax returns and payments normally due April 18.
- For eligible taxpayers, 2022 contributions to IRAs and health savings accounts.
- Quarterly estimated tax payments typically due on April 18, June 15, and September 15.
- Calendar year 2022 returns for partnerships and S corporations typically have a due date of March 15.
- Corporate and fiduciary income tax returns and payments for calendar year 2022, normally due April 18.
- Quarterly payroll tax and excise tax returns are typically filed on May 1 and July 31.
- Calendar year 2022 returns filed by tax-exempt organizations are normally due May 15.
