Apple has announced during WWDC 2023 iPadOS 17the new version of the operating system for the iPad that comes with some new features from iOS 17 and additional improvements to make the most of the screen size of these devices.
One of the main novelties of iPadOS 17 is the ability to interact with widgets on home screen. Now we can perform some actions from the screen itself, without having to enter the app.
iPadOS also allows you to customize the lock screen in a similar way to what we have been doing for a year in iOS 16. iPad users, therefore, will have the ability to customize the clock and add different widgets to the side of the screen that show relevant information, such as events the Calendar app, the weather, the alarms in the Clock app, etc. With iPadOS 17 it is also possible to create different wallpapers and lock and switch between them by holding down on the screen, or through different concentration modes.
iPadOS 17 also maintains some of the most notable features of iPadOS 16, such as the visual organizerwhich allows you to change the size of windows and move from one app to another with just one click and which is now slightly improved, allowing more free resizing of windows.
Apple has also brought the Health app to iPad, until now exclusive to the iPhone. With iPadOS 17 users will be able to see their data in a more detailed way or manage their medications, menstrual cycle and more.
iPadOS 17, on the other hand, improves work with PDFs. Now we can edit them through new controls and further customize the documents natively, without the need for third-party apps. An interesting function is the autocomplete. With iPadOS 17, it is possible to automatically fill in personal information in documents, such as addresses, emails, etc.
With iPadOS 17, the notes app receives a curious novelty. Now it is possible to create collaborative notes in which several users can work simultaneously, even seeing updates in real time.
Other news coming to iPadOS 17
iPadOS 17, we reiterate, also comes with some of the most important innovations in iOS 17, as well as some additional features.
The new version for the iPad integrates the possibility of making an audio or video message when someone does not answer the call in FaceTime, as well as reactions with hearts, balloons, fireworks, etc. the app Safari for iPadIn addition, it integrates profiles, a function designed to improve productivity when browsing and that allows you to have separate browsing histories, tabs, cookies and more. In this way, for example, users can have a profile only for work and another for their personal use.
