The latest installment of the Hitman franchise hit stores around the world a little over a year and a half ago and, apparently, it has worked like a charm for its managers, the Danish studio I.O.Interactive. At least this has been confirmed by the fiscal year report published by the European company, which has also offered additional information on its upcoming projects. In that sense, we have now learned that the IO Interactive’s James Bond game may not arrive until 2025. The Twitter user specializing in the video game industry DarkDetective has shared some screenshots of that tax report and shed light on this issue.
IO Interactive has published its Annual Report 2021/22 (year ending 31st March 2022).
Revenue came in at DKK 538m (~$72.4m), +7% YoY, more than 2x management expectations. Mostly thanks to an Xbox Game Pass deal.

“We’ve had a couple of years of solid revenue and profit, due to a title launch. There is a risk that in the next two years EBITDA and profits will fall. This is due to the long production phases that lie ahead before the next releases hit the market. More precisely, the fiscal years 24 and 25 are estimated to show a significant decrease”, can be read in the last of the captures that you will find in the upper tweet. That would mean neither Project 007the already confirmed James Bond video game, nor Project Dragona medieval fantasy RPG, would arrive before March 2025.
They discover an easter egg related to Monkey Island in Hitman 3
Of course this is nothing more than an estimate for the financial and tax reports of IO Interactive, but it clearly shows that the Danish company plans to pass a couple of years without releasing a new video gamein addition to the year and a half since the premiere of Hitman 3. Be that as it may, the company continues to expand, also with its own office in Barcelona, which we were able to visit recently, and is working on ambitious projects of which we hope to learn details in the near future. When exactly? We will have to wait to find out.
