The name of Venkata Renduchintala, or Murthy, may not be familiar to many. But among devotees of hardware and processor development, it is impossible not to associate this Doctor with the Intel company.
In recent years, this subject had been in charge of one of the most critical areas as chief of engineering and head of the firm’s entire hardware division.
It was under his mandate that Intel’s 10nm processor generation was delayed for years. And now, after the announcement that its new family of 7nm processors would also be extended until 2022, it seems that the company no longer supported it.
Through an official statement on its website, the firm has announced the departure of Venkata Renduchintala as head of engineering for Intel. The same will be effective from August 3, 2020. Although the reality is that the specific reasons for his departure are never detailed.
A promising signing at the beginning
During the first half of the past decade, Renduchintala had achieved a brilliant career at Qualcomm. So the company signed him in 2016 to take care of his new generations of processors.
As we all saw, it seems that his management was not as effective and devastating as it had been in his previous job.
Intel put Doc in charge of the entire process, from design to chip manufacturing. As we saw the experiment apparently did not turn out so well. And now in parallel, the company has divided this area into five different areas to optimize processes.
If we add Apple’s exit to go with ARM, we can capture the complex situation in which the company finds itself.
