Instagram has confirmed in a publication the arrival of a function that will allow users to create collections with other people. The company has called it collaborative collections, and with it you will be able to save posts in shared folders with friends who have similar interests. This function comes to complement the collections that the company introduced in 2017, adding a new social component to the equation.
How can you use it? The first step will be to update the application to the latest version available. Once this is done, you can go to Instagram and try to save any post. When you do, you’ll see a new option to create a collaborative collection. From this section you can choose with whom you want to share it, and the name of the board. Later, friends inside will also be able to add content.
This function is available from the reels section, the Explore tab, the Feed and from direct messages. From any of these locations you can store the content to the collaborative collections of Instagram.
If it is not yet available on your mobile phone, don’t worry. The deployment of these functions is usually gradual.so it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to appear.
The new function drinks directly from the one already offered by Pinterest. Remember that the latter allows the “Group Boards” since 2018, where users can collaborate with each other without ever leaving the platform. Now, Instagram has decided to integrate this into its own application, making it easier for users to share content of interest.
“Now, when you go to save content in Feed or from your DMs, you will see a new option to create a collaborative collection.”
Although Instagram has been focused on becoming a competitor to TikTok, the company hasn’t forgotten its social component. With this new feature of collaborative collections, the company hopes to make it easier to share content between users. For example, if you are planning a trip with friends, you and your group of colleagues can save posts related to sites to visit in one of these collections.
Of course, the function extends much further, and that is that you can create collaborative collections of whatever you want. From fashion, to food recipes, through training tips, craft ideas and much more.
A few months ago we saw the arrival of the Notes. This new function presented us with a new way of status updates, which drink directly from the States of MSN Messenger, the classic Microsoft product. Meta also announced that, after the Twitter debacle, she has plans to create a decentralized version of the blue bird social network, and Instagram would be at the top of the equation.
