It’s been many years since we’ve had a new Dragon Age, even though the next installment in the franchise is currently in development (and according to the latest news, its development is going pretty well). Since «Inquisition», we have been waiting for new adventures in the fantastic world of Bioware’s works, but now some statements come to light that confirm that Dragon Age: Inquisition could have been so much more ambitious.
In an interview with the media USATodayformer head of Bioware Aaryn Flynn has spoken about the problems the team had to face in developing this installment, the problems of developing it for the PS3 and Xbox 360 generationalong with the “new generation” consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and the cuts they had to make so that the old consoles could move the game, something that meant that the biggest ambitions of the study had to be cut.

This is how spectacular Dragon Age Inquisition looks with Unreal Engine 5
This shows us that many times, development studios have to fight against all odds to get their projects off the ground, even the biggest studios. If companies currently continue to support previous generation consoles with new titles, the situation could repeat itself, and throwing overboard the ambition of hundreds of people due to economic decisions that could be avoided, is something that should not come back to pass. Still, Dragon Age: Inquisition was, and still is, one of BioWare’s great titles, and a must for RPG lovers.
