At an annual rate, the IMAI grew 2.5%, in real terms, last January. By sector of economic activity, Generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, supply of water and gas through pipelines to the final consumer rose 4.4%; Manufacturing industries, 4.1%; Construction, 2.9% and Mining decreased 3.9%.

In this way, the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity remains at the 102.5 points with which it ended December 2022 and, by not growing during January, cut three consecutive months of growth.

This is “a worse result than the forecast of a 0.3% monthly advance. In the interior, manufacturing grew by 0.7% and constitutes the outstanding aspect of the report,” said a Monex analysis.
