For this reason, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) holds the 1st International Summit “My Struggle is Pink 2021”. This initiative is virtual due to the current situation and takes place on October 21 and 22 in this link.

In this regard, the head of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, stressed that this congress is a sample of humanism, fraternity and co-responsibility in the fight against this disease, which is the leading cause of cancer death in women 25 years of age or older.

He also thanked that the IMSS Foundation has developed continuing education and training actions for health personnel, social participation projects such as self-exploration workshops and the “Look good and feel better” workshop, with the support of the National Chamber of the Cosmetic Products Industry. , as well as mammograms and activations with the Institute’s Volunteers.

“Also fundamental is the support for cancer patients through donations in kind of oncological sleeves, breast prostheses, oncological wigs and hospital equipment, such as mastgraphs and accompanying bed chairs”.

At the time, Dr. Célida Duque Molina, director of Medical Benefits at the IMSS, pointed out that the fight against breast cancer is an everyday job, beyond this month of awareness, since the IMSS has more than 20 million women in the age group who are eligible for clinical examination, mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies.

He added that due to the COVID-19 pandemic there has been a decrease in preventive care. For his part, Dr. Romeo Rodríguez Suárez, executive president of the IMSS Foundation, explained that in order to follow up on the women who participated in this congress, and in particular those who do not have cancer, an alliance was established with foundations that will support the follow-up and attention to risk factors for developing the disease.

Meanwhile, the general director of the IMSS Foundation, teacher Ana Lía de Fátima García García, explained that during the next two days a series of conferences will be held to raise awareness about breast cancer, and thanked the support of strategic allies and staff IMSS Foundation that will be pending to resolve doubts.

Conferences on the epidemiological panorama, prevention of risk factors, early detection, timely referral, adjuvants in treatment, breast cancer and comorbidities and scientific advances for cancer treatment will also be addressed.
