Walmart is today one of the leading brands in the retail market and that it is linked to the sale of biologically risky products is a lousy precedent for the store.
The bacteria responsible for at least two deaths of consumers who had contact with the pathogen is common in soils and water in Australia and Asia.
The brand promoted its spray as an aromatherapy product.
A spray of aromatherapy It has become the last health alert in the United States to which you should be alert, if you traveled to this country and purchased a product of those indicated by the authorities in Walmart.
The fact is an unfortunate reference that we cannot lose sight of for a number of reasons, the main one being that it is critical that household products, which are expected to be safe, become carrier capsules for deadly bacteria, waiting to infect consumers.
With this lousy precedent on the table, it is important to take into account the elements based on which one has to work today, to achieve best practices in the market and to get them right.
A risky aromatherapy spray
A Better Homes & Gardens brand spray has been linked to at least four cases of bacterial infection, which has caused the death of two of them after infection. It is important that you consider this information if you have bought a product at Walmart or other stores because of the risk that this product represents.
The reports published by the US media refer that the Burkholderia pseudomallei bacteria, identified in at least four people who acquired the Better Homes & Gardens spray, causes pneumonia or a severe blood infection.
Localized cases have been reported in the states of Texas, Minnesota, Georgia, and Kansas. The product in question is the “Fourth Aromatherapy Essential Oil Infused with Lavender and Chamomile with gems”, which has been reported by Walmart, so that consumers who purchased one of the 4 thousand bottles in inventory return the product.
The case is an exceptional one, since it was almost possible to think that household products would be contaminated with this bacterium, since it is commonly found in contaminated water or in the substrates of Asia and Australia, so the cases identified in this country correspond to people who have traveled to these places.
Due to this pattern, the 4 cases identified in people who have not traveled abroad drew the attention of the authorities, who alerted to the incident.
