At Life and Style we talked with Gerardo ‘Gess’ Sandoval, who has worked and collaborated on projects with Apple since 2016 and gave us some tips that we must take into account to get the most out of the iPhone 13 Pro camera.
Gess is originally from Ensenada, Baja California, and began collaborating and working with Apple thanks to the photos I took with iPhone and that he shared through Instagram. “I found a community within this platform that helped me a lot to continue taking photos only with iPhone. At that time, Apple began with campaigns in which it encouraged users to take pictures with their cell phones and they coincidentally found my work through the platform”, says Gess Sandoval.
Apple was actually a big reason why I keep doing all of this.
“At first they contacted me to comment only on their interest in my work, and after a year they contacted me again to tell me that they wanted to buy licenses and they wanted to have more of my work and photographs, and that is how the relationship began (…) Apple was actually a big reason why I keep doing all of this.”, mentions Life and Style.
He comments that his first participation with the brand was with a photograph that they used for their campaign Shot on iPhone Worldwide and exhibited it in billboards, magazines, print and digital media. “That was a great springboard for me to believe in my work and be able to dedicate myself to it,” she highlights.
How is the iPhone 13 Pro camera?
The iPhone 13 Pro has three different cameras and each can help tell visual stories in different ways.
“Understanding these three chambers serves you well to find different perspectives and tell visual stories in different ways. Many times when I change cameras I suddenly discover other details of the scene or what I am photographing and maybe I open the frame and change cameras and I can see more things, ”he says.
Another important point is not to limit yourself. The convenience and ease with which good photos can be taken are a few reasons why Gess chooses iPhone. “Fortunately, everything is now very automatic, so measures light in a fast and beautiful way and has an exposure meter that many people do not know, that appears when you click on the screen and that helps you to have a different quality”.
Night mode is another point to consider. The night camera is a tool that helps to open scenarios or new perspectives.
The night mode tool is a tool that came to open minds
“Since the night mode began on the cell phone, I like to think that it gave me other eyes. This night vision that many times you see it with the naked eye and it doesn’t look as nice as you see it since you took the picture with the iPhone. I think the night mode tool is a tool that came to open minds”, she considers.
For Gess Sandoval photography is a means of expression through which experiences can be sharedfeelings and is a deeper and more open way to connect.
“By communicating with your eyes you can connect and speak more clearly and to a larger audience than you can with words,” he says.
He currently works in a digital survival handbook ranging from how to use the internet and digital tools, and how to use photography as a visual medium to make it more enjoyable and understandable for everyone.
