If you are a regular user of the Word platform, it is likely that on multiple occasions you have needed to use a special symbol. One of the most important symbols is the copyright © or trademark ™ as many know it.
However, you may have noticed that placing it inside a document is not as simple a task as it seems. For that reason, different word processors such as Microsoft Word have included within their system a very useful table with different symbols, ideal to be added to the documents you want either from your pc or your mobile.
Here we will teach you some tricks and explain what this symbol is about.
What is the protection granted?
The author protection symbol has many works, as well as different forms, which serve differently, for example:
- The Symbol TM ™ (and SM℠), is the one used to notify whoever sees it about the claim of use in a trademark. In general, this means that the use of a trademark is claimed that, despite being exposed to the public, has not yet been registered.
- Symbol R ®, is one of the best known because it provides people with a notice of ownership, which is used in multiple countries. With this, the public is warned that said trademark is legally registered and protected.
- Symbol C ©, like the previous one that we have explained, notifies those who see it that said work or product has copyright or non-sound copyright.
- Symbol P ℗ and finally the symbol with P, warns that all works are copyrighted with sound character.
Use the copy and paste method
Although this may not be the most practical method, you only need to locate said symbols and write them very occasionally, so it will get you out of trouble quickly.
You can write the name of the symbol you want to use in many web pages, which collect hundreds of symbols, to make them more accessible to the public. Likewise, by accessing the Word symbol catalog you will be able to find all the symbols you need and more, be it the weight or currency symbol and even musical note symbols, so you will not have to complicate much trying to find the right one.
With Word and Libre Office
If when writing a document, you use a word processor, they usually have a special function, with which you can facilitate the task. To be able to access it, you must go to the options bar of your Word page and locate yourself on the insert option, after that, you must enter the symbols tab and there you will see a series of options.
We recommend that you go to the one that says ” More symbols ” where an additional text box will open which has even more symbols that you can add.
If you are within Libre Office, you can carry out a fairly similar process with the only difference that you must enter the Insert menu and then enter the Special Character option, there you can choose the copyright symbol you want to add.
Keyboard combinations
If none of the previous steps have convinced you, you can always use the keyboard combinations. One of the advantages that these have is the ease of being applied since their use extends to practically any character or symbol.
These are some of the most common combinations that you can find within the keyboard to be able to enter these symbols:
- Copyright ©. Alt + 0169
- Registered trademark ®. Alt + 0174
- Trademark ™. Alt + 0153
If you want to see even more combinations you should use the Character Map, which is already installed with Windows services.
