If you are one of those people who snorts when you have to park on the bank, we advise you to read these tips that we give you so that it is much easier for you to do the maneuver the first time.
For many drivers, the parking maneuver is the most complicated, since they have difficulty correctly calculating the distances to be determined at each step. Parking operation is usually possible in a single movementbut for this you have to master the technique well.
How to park on the first battery
The battery parking maneuver is the one in which we introduce the vehicle in reverse in a line perpendicular to the axis of the track through which we circulate. And the easiest way to do it is as follows:
- When you see a free battery parking space, signals the maneuver with the turn signal so as not to obstruct traffic or prevent a vehicle driving behind from preventing you from starting the manoeuvre.
- The first trick to execute the operation well is Align your vehicle’s bumper with the side that overlooks the free space of the parked vehicle. In addition, you must leave an approximate lateral separation of half a meter.
- Take advantage of entire steering wheel turning radius towards the side where you are going to park your vehicle. Start the movement in reverse while checking in the rearview mirror that faces parked vehicles that there are no pedestrians or obstacles.
- Now comes the second trick: when your rear wheel has passed the headlamp of the parked vehicle, you will know that you are not going to touch it. It’s time to start looking in the opposite rearview mirror as you continue to back up.
- Once you have pushed the vehicle all the way into the hole, check if you need to center it in the parking space. Remember that you can be fined for leaving the car too close to another.

Is it better to park backwards or forwards?
The maneuver that we have described is the one you need if you want to park the car in reverse gear. Of course, also you can put it forwardfor which you will have to leave much more lateral space before starting the turn and inserting the nose of your vehicle into the hole.
Clearly make it forward it’s much easier to enter, since the visibility is much higher. The problem will come when you leave, since you will have to do it in reverse to enter the road on which the rest of the vehicles circulate.
For avoid a collisionyou will have to do it very slowly and try to anticipate the arrival of another vehicle, something difficult when having to look sideways through a row of parked cars.
For all these reasons, our advice is that you always do it in reverse. You’ll see how with these simple tricks and a little practicesoon you will master the maneuver to perfection.
