If we talk about fonts in Windows, we can’t help but name some iconic ones like Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, or the infamous Comic Sans. Certainly, the list available by default is very extensive, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t update it to give it a personalized touch. But if you still don’t know how to install new fonts on your windows computerYou have come to the right place.

Through this guide we will show you how you can add endless fonts to Windows. You will see that it is something really very simple, and that it has the particularity of being able to be done in different ways without much complexity.

The first thing we must take into account is that they need a place from which to extract the fonts that we will incorporate into our PC. The most recommended option is Google Fontswhich provides a huge catalog from free fonts; we can also test them before downloading them to know in advance how the text will look and not install them unnecessarily.

That’s how easy it is to install fonts on Windows

Once we choose which fonts we want to install in Windows, we must download them to the computer. Keep in mind that the vast majority of these files (whose most common extensions are TTF, OTF or FNT) arrive compressed in ZIP or RAR format, but they usually weigh no more than a few KB. It’s more, most of the time it is not even necessary to unzip them to add them to our PC.

Thus, for example, we can double-click on the font that we have just downloaded from within WinRAR itself and the installation window will open. Once there we just have to click on Install and the font will be added to Windows.

Windows also allows us to install multiple fonts simultaneously. This is ideal for those who want to add multiple fonts and don’t want to do it one at a time. To do this, we will have to unzip each of the files in question into a single folder, then we will select them and we will right click on them to open the context menu; there we will choose Install and wait for the process to finish.

    Alternative methods

It is also possible to install fonts in Windows from the Microsoft operating system settings. For this we must enter Settings > Personalization > Fontsor directly type “sources” when opening the Start menu and entering Font Settings.

There we can drag the files of the fonts that we want to add, either individually or in groups, and we will only have to wait for the process to complete.

But that is not all, since in the same window we will see a large number of fonts recommended by Windows for install. And we can also enter the Microsoft Store to continue exploring the available options.

However, there is a peculiar fact that we must mark. If you’re using a PC with an unactivated version of Windows—because you’re using it for trial, license expired, or whatever—you won’t be able to install fonts from the Microsoft Store or OS settings. However, you can do it manually, with the first method that we explain.

Without a doubt, installing new fonts is a very useful option for those who want to escape the ones that Windows offers by default. Keep in mind that any new fonts we add to the PC can be used in a host of programs, from Office to video editors and graphic design tools, among others.

Don’t forget that after adding new fonts you may need to restart some apps for the change to take effect. For example, if you’re running Word while installing a font, you’ll need to close the text editor and reopen it for the new fonts to become available.
