For many, computers or laptops have become part of our daily lives. We use them for countless projects and tasks. But sometimes a bad key combination can accidentally turn our life upside down. And although sometimes it is even necessary to automatically rotate the screen of an Android cell phone, in computers it is not so much.
Whether it was your own hand or someone else wanted to play a bad joke on you, below we will teach you how to fix or rotate the screen of your laptop or computer if it is upside down.
How to rotate your computer or laptop screen if it is upside down
There are at least three methods for this simple process. Depending on your team, one or the other will work. Although it is not a difficult task, we will list them from easiest to most complicated.
It should be noted that if the screen of your computer or laptop is already flipped, some of the methods will be more uncomfortable to perform because you will have to battle against the mouse cursor.
But with a lot of perseverance and patience you will achieve your goal. In addition, Windows has many other useful tricks, in fact, it is even possible to flip the desktop screen of a Windows 10 computer.
Rotate the screen using quick keyboard shortcuts
The screen of your computer or laptop can rotate 90, 180 and 270 degrees. To do this, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts:
- “Ctrl + Alt + up arrow” to rotate the screen to the usual position.
- «Ctrl + Alt + arrow to the right» to rotate the screen 90º.
- “Ctrl + Alt + down arrow” to rotate the screen 180º. In this perspective it will be completely the other way around. Interestingly, even the mouse movement will appear reversed. Perfect for playing a prank on a friend.
- “Ctrl + Alt + arrow to the left” to rotate the screen 270º.
Those are the 4 keyboard shortcuts that you can use to rotate the screen of your computer or laptop. It should be noted that this only works on Windows devices. So if you like these types of functions and you even manage to rotate your cell phone screen without the option to rotate, these steps are for you.
Next we will see how to carry out this process from the configuration menu, which also works for Mac.
There is a route a little more hidden than the first. It is about entering the configuration of your equipment and adjusting the parameters of the screen. For this you must do the following.
On Windows:
- Go to «Home».
- Select the option «Configuration».
- Click on the “System” box.
- Select “Display” from the menu on the left.
- In the “Orientation” section, select one of the 4 options that appear in the drop-down menu. To return to the original position, you can click on «Horizontal». The options “Vertical”, “Horizontal” (flipped) “and” Vertical (flipped) “are used to rotate the screen 90, 180 and 270 degrees respectively.
To get to this menu, you can also right-click on any empty space on the desktop and select “Display Settings” from the contextual menu that appears.
Of course, if you are not a fan of this widely used feature and you even like to block automatic rotation on Android, you are not required to follow the steps above.
On Mac:
- Select the Apple icon located in the upper left corner.
- Click on the “System Preferences” option.
- Select the “Screens” box. It is usually in the second row.
- Choose the position of the screen in the “Standard 90 degree rotation” box. Press this option as many times as necessary to return the screen to the original position.
Rotate the screen from the processor graphics properties
For this method to work, your computer must have an Intel processor. If this is not the case, you must use either of the two alternatives described above. However, the vast majority of computers and laptops work with processors of this brand. Therefore to rotate the screen you must do the following:
- Right-click anywhere on the desktop.
- Select the option “Graphic properties” or “Graphic options”.
- Click on the “Rotation” box.
- Once inside, choose the screen rotation you want to configure.
