It is known as home screen, login either lock screen. It’s the first thing you see when you turn on your PC. And if you haven’t set autostart, that’s where you have to enter your password to access Windows. So since it’s a screen you’re going to see every day, why change it to your liking and so customize Windows from scratch?
we recently saw how to change desktop of Windows by adding animated backgrounds. An original and fun way to give some life to one of the screens that you will see the most throughout the day on your monitor. And next to the desktop, the start screen is also usually there whenever you turn on the computer or when you lock it for security if you are going to be absent. Remember that for lock screen just press the Windows keys + L.
so for customize that screen Windows lockdown, we are going to see everything that Microsoft’s own operating system allows. The objective, that the home screen is as much ours as possible. It’s easy, fast and you’ll appreciate it every day.
Customize the home screen
To start with this task we will have to go to the Setting of Windows. Specifically, to the section Personalization. And more specifically, in Lock screen. You’ll find Setting from the Start menu by pressing the Windows keys + i or from the Windows search engine. There you will find everything we need.
First we are going to Customize the lock screen. There we will choose what we want to see as wallpaper on the home screen. By default, the option is activated Windows Featured Content, which basically consists of high-quality photos downloaded from Bing. If you are interested in having those images as wallpaper as well, take a look at this article.
But if you get tired of looking at those photos or prefer one of your own, change that option to Image. You can choose between Windows wallpapers or your own photos if you click on browse photos. There you can also choose whether you want to see Windows recommendations or not. And if what you want is to see your own photos randomly from a folder or collection, choose the third option, called Presentation.
if you choose Presentation You will also have the possibility to turn off the screen when the presentation of images ends or turn it off directly when locking Windows. Another very useful option is the one that allows you to display images that you have taken with your camera or smartphone and that you have on your PC or in your OneDrive folder.
What do you want to see on the lock screen
The most striking thing about the Windows start screen, aside from the wallpaper itself, is the time and date. By default, it is what we see there. But we can change that information for another just as important. For example, the weather forecast or the latest messages you have received in your mailbox.
Since Settings > Personalization > Lock screen we’ll go to lock screen status. In the dropdown, by default it is selected Calendar, but you can choose None, Mail, or Weather. This way you will see useful information while the screen is locked or when you turn on your PC. Or, on the contrary, do not show nothing but your account and the space to enter the password. This will give you a closer look at the background image.
Although Windows does not give too many options to customize the Windows start screen, with the little available we can achieve good results. For example, we can create custom backgrounds with images containing messages as a task list and then add it to your lock screen. Or just enjoy a photo album when you lock the Windows screen.
