One of the first lessons you must learn to do a flawless design job is how to cut out a shaped image using CorelDRAW, here we will show you how.
When we do design work, the images and photographs must be very well worked since they have a great visual weight and say a lot about the quality of the work.
Whether it’s newsletters, magazines or catalogs, editing your images is one of the first things clients will look at to determine the quality of your work.
In this vein, Corel DRAW has various tools that allow you to cut, divide and erase objects from an image, allowing you to carry out neat and neat work.
Although you can trim almost all objects, remember that you cannot trim paragraph text, clone master objects, or dimension lines. However, it is possible to fit text to a path in Corel Draw.
Destination object and source object
Before you start trimming you must understand that there is the target object – the one you want to trim – and the source object – the one you want to use to trim it.
In the case of the target object, it maintains its fill and outline characteristics, which can create objects with irregular shapes, since overlapping parts are eliminated.
Crop an object
To start working on editing with Corel DRAW, you must select the source objects and then hold down the Shift key and choose the destination object.
If you are working in Classic mode, go to the “ organize ” menu, then select “Object”, press “ Shape ” and finally choose “Crop”.
If you select several objects individually, the last object you chose will be clipped, however, if you select all of them in a box, the bottom selected object will be clipped.
In addition to this, you could also trim objects by selecting the source and destination objects in a box and then, on the properties bar, choose the ” Trim ” option.
Crop in foreground or background
To crop in the foreground or background, select the source and destination objects with a box and in the “organize” menu – in the classic view – click on ” Object “.
Next, press “Shape” and you will now have to choose between two options, choose “Front minus back” or “Back minus front” as the case may be.
” Front minus behind ” removes the object that is in the background from the one in front and ” Behind minus front ” removes the one that is in the foreground from the one behind.
However, if there are linked objects such as silhouettes, shadows, text on a path or blends these will be converted to curve objects before they are trimmed.
Crop overlapping areas
To start, select with a box the objects you need to cut, then, in the “Arrange” menu select “Object” then “Shape” and finally click on ” Simplify “.
Crop bitmap
To crop an image or bitmap, select the image and, from the menu, click on “bitmap” and press the option “ Edit bitmap ”.
Also, we can click directly on “Edit bitmap” and, automatically, they will send us to Photo-Paint, we go to the menu, select “Image” then “Crop Lab” and then “Extract.
We will visualize a toolbar in the upper right part, we will select the first tool called ” Highlight “, represented by a marker, and begin to outline the image.
When finished, we select the “Inner Fill” tool and click inside the selection, then select the “Preview” button at the bottom right of the screen.
Choose a background color that contrasts with that of the image to be able to appreciate the existing imperfections and correct them with the “Remove” and “Add” tools and press “OK.
Then go to “File”, press ” Finish editing ” and so you will return to Corel DRAW, also, if you prefer you can select the image and drag it directly to Corel DRAW.
