When we talk about Outlook on Windows, we refer to the application that is obtained by installing the Microsoft Office package on the computer. That said, you will see the step by step of how to create a survey, review the results in Outlook and send it by email.
Insert a message
- The first thing we are going to do is create a new blank message, then we go to the tab that says “insert”. We select the poll or survey option, it will automatically be inserted into the message.
- You can also insert the poll by clicking on the “options” tab, then on “use voting buttons”; finally in “polling”.
Place the questions
- When inserting the poll, a panel will open where we will place the first question and two default options. In case you want to add more additional answers, you just have to click on the plus symbol and add the option (+ add option).
- In case you want a single answer, the survey is ready to be sent. But if you want more than one answer, you should change the button to multiple answers. If you’re done, just click Submit.
How can you review the results?
To review or check the results, you must click on “update”, in this way you will see the latest results. You can also click on “view forms” where you can go to an Office web page called Forms.Office.com and see the responses in more detail.
Another option to follow up on your survey would be to click directly on the link that is created automatically. This is in the body of the message and directs you to the same Office web page; the same one I mentioned before (Forms.Office.com).
Create a survey in Outlook from the web
You already saw how to create a survey and send it by email from Outlook in the application installed on Windows, thanks to Microsoft Office. Now you will know the steps to carry out the survey or a poll, but using Outlook mail directly from the browser of your choice.

- A drop-down window will automatically open in which we will place our first question. This brings by default two options to write the answer.
- In case we need more space or want to add more options, we will click the plus button and select “add option” (+ Add option).
- If we have finished conducting the survey, it is time to configure the selection method. Usually, if we don’t configure anything, the poll will have only one answer to dial. If you want more than one answer, you must switch and activate the multiple answer button.
To finish, you must click on the option “insert poll by email”. Then you will see a link in the body of the message, your name will automatically appear in the CC section. And that’s it, you can now send the survey by email!
