OnePlus’ OxygenOS unites the simplicity of stock Android versions and the customization of a heavy-duty user interface. While most of the items on the home screen have been left mostly intact, OnePlus hides in its launcher a useful panel of quick shortcuts via Shelf.
You can open Shelf on your OnePlus mobile by sliding your finger to the right on the home screen or, in the most modern versions, sliding your finger from the middle of the screen downwards since the previous gesture has been reserved to make room for Google discover and its news.
This panel gives you a quick look at your recent and most used applications and other useful information organized in the form of cards, such as access to phone tools or weather information, as well as the ability to create sticky notes.
How to activate the OnePlus secret panel
Many users in the firm’s forums ask where this useful panel has been placed, which has been accompanying the brand’s clients from their older devices. If when you slide your finger down, you cannot make them appear, you must configure it from the settings of the home screen of your OnePlus.
To do this, keep your finger pressing an empty space on the screen and, in the options that appear in the bottom bar, select the gear icon as shown in this image.
Enabling the aforementioned OxygenOS panel is as simple as checking the enable box, which activates the swipe gesture on the display, and selecting Shelf at the bottom.
How to configure the OxygenOS Shelf panel
Once this is done, we can proceed to alter what this OnePlus screen shows us and, as you can imagine, to change the configuration of the Shelf panel you must click on the settings icon that is located in the upper right corner, once we are within this section.
Inside here you can enable different tools as useful as storing the location where we have parked, enable the notes panel, show the number of steps taken or quick access to toolboxes and apps. If you click on the Widgets option you will be able to insert all of the apps that you have installed on your smartphone.
To change the space that the cards occupy on the screen, simply press and hold any widget and then drag it up or down to reposition it in the list. If what you want is to delete it, you will see that when you leave your finger pressed on it, the option to disable it appears.
