Our dog is a member of the family, that’s why he accompanies us on our trips and vacations. If you go to the beach or the mountains, you obviously want them to accompany you, and for this you look for special rooms: cute apartments and hotels that allow pets so that they can be with you.
In the mountains they have a lot of space to run and enjoy, but on the beach it is somewhat more complicated because in many of them they do not allow pets and fines can reach 3,000 euros.

Yes, the fines for breaking the ban on going to the beach with your dog range from 90 euros and 3,000 in serious cases of recidivism, and it is the local police who denounce the infractions and process the sanctions. always depending on the ordinance of each municipality. And it is that each locality has its own norm.
The Coastal Law is the regulation that affects all the beaches in Spain. Since 2013 it is Law 2/2013, of May 29, on the protection and sustainable use of the coast and the modification of Law 22/1988, of July 28, on Coasts. The full text can be consulted at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
The dogs that do enter the beaches freely are guide dogs, rescue dogs, assistance dogs or other authorized dogs such as detection dogs, which have access regardless of any municipal ordinance.
The Law of Coasts does not say anything specific about dogs, does not prohibit their access to the beaches and does not allow it, In other words, there is no regulation that prohibits the access of dogs to all the beaches in Spain, but it does dictate that the City Councils are in charge of “maintaining the clean and healthy conditions of the bathing areas, of placing informative posters with characteristics, infrastructure and security measures”.

Therefore, if you go on vacation with your dog to the beach, you have to call the corresponding Town Hall in advance to find out which beach your pet can go to. It is their responsibility and they are in charge of creating duly signposted dog beaches, they are the ones that prohibit access all year round or seasonally, but they can also allow it and spread this information.
