A total of 36 field referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 video assistant referees are participating in Qatar to direct the 64 matches of the competition between November 20 and December 18, 2022.

It is worth mentioning that since the 2018 World Cup in Russia, FIFA has granted central referees a salary of $70,000, plus another $3,000 per match conducted outside the group stage. On the other hand, linesmen were paid $25,000 per contract, plus another $2,000 per game played.

How much will referees charge in Qatar?

In Qatar, central referees are paid $3,000 per match during the group stage and $10,000 per match in the round of 16 and also for the final. The assistant referees and the 4th referee will receive $2,500 for the group stage matches and $5,000 for the round of 16 and final matches.

The biggest change in football rules in recent years is the introduction of video assistant referees (VARs). The 24 VAR referees selected for the 2022 FIFA World Cup will earn $3,000 per match and in the final phase of the competition their bonuses will increase up to 5,000 dollars.
