It is relevant to highlight that in Colombia The National Government has established a social program called Families in Actionn, which primarily seeks to improve the living conditions of the most needy households in the country. This program is specifically aimed at those households that are in situations of extreme poverty, moderate poverty and economic vulnerability. It is essential to pay attention to these data.
Although President Gustavo Petro declared the end of the Familias en Acción social program at the end of 2022, the Shock Plan Against Hunger began to replace it. Additionally, a special bonus of $500,000 was given to families that had previously been beneficiaries of the subsidy.
A transition of public policies that encompass programs such as Familias en Acción, Ingreso Solidario and Jóvenes en Acción, which offer financial assistance to people with low incomes in Colombia, is being carried out towards a new program called “Citizen Income”. Details about this benefit are described in a DEPOR article.
