The system sisben IV It is a relevant tool for colombian government, since it optimizes the distribution of subsidies to citizens. Its goal is to improve the quality of the information included in the database, in order to avoid errors and manipulations by third parties. In the next sections it will be explained how it is possible to register in this system, how to verify if you can access any social program and to which group you belong. In recent years, the State has offered significant economic support through various programs such as Solidarity Income, Families in Action, VAT Refund, among others, using Sisbén data. This has allowed an adequate distribution of the budget destined to social investment, and it has been possible to deliver these resources in an equitable manner.
According to the National Planning Department (DNP), the Sisbén database has increased by 24%. It should be noted that Sisbén IV categorizes citizens according to their income and lifestyle, and has four population groups: A, B, C and D. Currently, it is easier to be part of this system that seeks to improve services for the population.
What are the ‘Sisbén’ groups?
- Group Amade up of the population with the least capacity to generate income or the population in extreme poverty.
- B Groupmade up of poor households, but with a greater capacity to generate income than those of group A.
- Group Cmade up of vulnerable populations or those at risk of falling into a condition of poverty.
- Group Dmade up of a population that is neither poor nor vulnerable.
How to register for ‘Sisbén IV’?
If you have not previously been surveyed by Sisbén to receive any payment, you must first enter the following link of the District Planning Secretariat: https://sisbensol.sdp.gov.co/. Likewise, users can visit the Sisbén office of the mayor’s office of the municipality where they are.

Sisbén IV: group classification
With the new Sisbén IV methodology, Colombians will be able to consult their information through the official website. Likewise, a Citizen Portal will be enabled to facilitate the completion of procedures via the web for the population. To check your classification in Sisbén you must enter HERE.
How to know the Sisbén Score?
If you have doubts about your Sisbén Score and want to know it to sign up for most financial subsidies, all you have to do is enter the following web page: https://www.sisben.gov.co/Paginas/landing.aspx. Then, you must click on the option ‘Consultation of the Sisbén Score‘, which is located at the top of the site.
Once the previous steps have been completed, you must enter the document number, click on the option ‘I am not a robot’ and, finally, ‘Consult’. How to know who your family nucleus is? When you are on the page, look for the option ‘Consult your Sisbén group’ and select it. Finally, enter the document of the member in question and click ‘Consult’.
How do I know if I will receive any subsidy?
Keep in mind that the fact that you are in Sisbén does not mean that you will automatically receive any subsidy from the Government of Colombia. The Sisbén is only a systematized survey that qualifies the population according to certain pre-established parameters. The entities in charge of the social programs are the ones that define the entry, permanence and exit criteria of the beneficiaries.
