Many times you need to present a Word document in which you want to include graphics or tables, but sometimes its dimensions become so wide that they do not match properly on a vertical sheet. That is why today we come to explain how to combine horizontal and vertical sheets in the same Word.
How to alternate vertical and horizontal sheets in the same Word document
Sometimes we would like to be able to change one or more sheets to the horizontal direction so that the tables and graphs could be presented appropriately. Word offers endless utilities so that your presentations can be adapted to your requirements, such as the size, color and style of the selected fonts. It even allows you to arch a text to make it more striking.
However, this word processor only offers, in principle, the option of placing the sheets in the traditional vertical or horizontal position, and this configuration is automatically extended to the entire document.
It is not a trick or a very complex procedure, but a configuration issue in the design or structure of the document. Once you know the steps to follow, it is very easy to alternate vertical and horizontal sheets in the same Word document.
The most important thing is that in order to make the changes in the direction of the sheet, you must indicate in the configuration exactly which pages you want to alternate with respect to the structure of the document.
To combine vertical and horizontal sheets in the same Word document
The procedure for having both horizontally and vertically sheets in the same Word document may vary from one version of office to another, but it basically follows the same pattern. Once the document in which we want to alternate the direction of the sheets is open, we can see various tabs in the menu, which make up the so-called ribbon.
Then you must carry out the following steps to tell the program which sheets you want in vertical direction and which sheets you want in horizontal orientation. In the ribbon, you must select the tab called page layout, which will place it in the menu where the page alternatives are selected, such as margins, sheet size, columns that it will contain and orientation, which is the function that we interested in configuring.
There we can see that selecting the “orientation” option will open a sub-menu that allows us to select the direction of the sheet of the Word document in which we are working, either vertically, which is the default mode, or horizontally.
As we can see, that will not solve our problem of being able to alternate vertical and horizontal sheets in the same document. But it is necessary to know that menu and its functions, which puts us just one step away from locating the required option. Continue reading the next section to complete this task.
We are almost done assembling our Word document
Just below the location of the “page layout” buttons is a sub-menu called “page setup.” Which will bring up a window in which you can see three tabs, the first of which is “margins”. In this tab, as its name implies, you can modify the margins of your Word document.
This tab consists of 4 sections to configure the margins of the sheet. The orientation of the same (here we must select the horizontal direction to be able to show the graphics); pages. Where it is configured if they will have symmetrical margins, if it will show two pages per sheet or if it will have a book format.
The last section of that tab is the one that really interests us. Well, it is the one that will allow us to alternate the orientation between vertical and horizontal sheets. There it reads “apply to”, and a choice must be made between “to the entire document” or “from now on”.
By choosing the “from here on” option, Word will change the orientation of the indicated sheet. Having to repeat this step every time we need to repeat the process in a certain section of the Word document.
