The Citizen Income it is an essential part of the National Development Plan “Colombia, World Power of Life”. This measure has been adopted by the National government, approved by the Congress of the Republic and is in charge of social prosperity, entity in charge of managing the distribution of benefits. Its main objective is to ensure adequate income for households that are in situations of extreme poverty, moderate poverty and vulnerability, in order to meet their basic food needs and promote economic independence. In addition, it seeks to guarantee access to education and health, fundamental rights for all.
The implementation of this program will cover the entire national territory, with a special focus on the 466 municipalities identified as priorities due to their high incidence of extreme poverty. Major benefits will be provided to households with children under the age of six who reside in these high-priority municipalities.
In certain departments, the aid program will be extended in order to reach a greater number of homes. For example, support will be provided to 169,817 families in Antioquia, 156,032 in Bolívar, 137,555 in Córdoba, 126,792 in Valle del Cauca, 108,326 in Atlántico, 101,185 in Santander, and 100,790 in Nariño.
On what dates are the Citizen Income delivered?
Since April 29, Prosperidad Social has begun to gradually distribute the transfers corresponding to the Tránsito a Renta Ciudadana program. The first payments will be made progressively through Banco Agrario, with the aim of reaching more than 2 million beneficiary households before May 28. In total, the program will benefit 3.3 million families.
Among the households chosen to receive the approved transfer, 549,133 correspond to families recognized as victims of displacement, while 167,056 households belong to indigenous communities. For the first payment, the National Government has allocated a total sum of 796,435 million pesos ($796,435,200,000).
How can you collect Citizen Income?
All the practical information on the program, such as the procedure for delivery of the benefits (whether through banks or by means of drafts), the designated places to make payments, the restriction scheme based on the last digit of the ID for collections, and other relevant aspects, is available on the Social Prosperity website. Likewise, this information can be obtained in the respective mayors’ offices of the corresponding municipalities.
Several alternatives are provided to carry out the delivery of transfers, such as electronic money orders, deposits in bank savings accounts, extended boxes, digital wallets and money orders through different allies. The beneficiary of the transfer will receive a text message from the relevant bank, which will contain details about the designated place for collection, according to their identity document. In addition, it will be reported if it is necessary to follow a restriction scheme based on the last digit of the ID to make the payment.

How much is the Citizen Income bonus?
The objective of the Citizen Income program, formerly known as Transit to Citizen Income, is to ensure that beneficiary families have adequate income to overcome the poverty line. Transfers are made every two months and can vary up to a maximum of 1 million pesos, depending on various factors such as family composition, classification in the Sisbén group, territorial priority, and compliance with program obligations.
