The Repsol Honda team has announced today that Marc Márquez will be ready to participate in the first pre-season tests MotoGP to be held on February 5 and 6 in Sepang. This confirms the good feelings after the private test held in Portimao in mid-January. It will be the first time that the Catalan gets on a MotoGP since he won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Misano on October 24.
Since he suffered a fall while practicing enduro at the Pons circuit, the eight-time motorcycling world champion has been recovering from a new episode of diplopia (double vision). Márquez has undergone continuous medical check-ups during the winter in order to control a visual disturbance that already brought him many headaches in 2011. Last Monday, after the last of these checks, his medical team authorized the return of Cervera to MotoGP.

Márquez meets the ideal physical conditions to return to competition. This is undoubtedly the best news that the Honda rider could receive after months of intense recovery. In recent weeks, the improvement in his condition had allowed him to do motocross training and return to the circuits to test the Honda RC213V-S in Portimao and a Honda CBR600RR in Aragón. In a few days, he will finally ride the new Honda RC213V to begin preparing for what will be his tenth season in the premier class.
The 2022 MotoGP season will not only be a challenge for the Spanish rider, but also for the team Repsol Honda that wants to leave behind one of its worst stages in history in the world Cup. After a 2020 to forget, without reaching the top of the podium in any grand prix, the freezing of engines in 2021 due to the pandemic did not help improve the situation. It is true that, after the return of Márquez, the Japanese brand started a whole process of revolution to get back on the right track.
Once all the limitations adopted due to COVID have been removed, Honda has turned to the development of its new motorcycle. The tests held in Jerez at the end of the previous season left a very good taste in the team’s mouth. There are still, however, many aspects to be polished in the Honda RC213V. The Sepang tests are presented as a great opportunity to continue working in the development of the machine, this time with the star of the team on the track.
