They assure the pass for the world final
Coque López (Williams_Coque14) has managed to proclaim himself European champion of the 2020 FIA Gran Turismo Championships by achieving a historic victory in the regional finals that have been lived with intensity this weekend.
Along with him, José Serrano (PR1_JOSETE) finished in a spectacular second place in his debut in an international competition with Gran Turismo Sport. In this way, both drivers will arrive in an unbeatable position at the world finals of the competition endorsed by the FIA with the exclusive driving title for PlayStation.
The final, which was attended by the 16 best drivers from Europe, the Middle East and Africa, was divided into three races with the last one having a double score. In the first one, Serrano and López took advantage of two good starting positions to sign a third and fourth place. In the second of the rounds they exchanged the final places (fourth López and fifth Serrano) which allowed them to reach the final round with their options intact for the championship.
The final race would mix the spectacular Spa Francorchamps circuit with the Red Bull X2019 prototypes in a very close test already from qualifying in which all the drivers finished in the same second. López took a risk with the tire strategy on the asphalt of Spa which allowed him to climb to the top of the podium. José Serrano, third in the final race, completed the historic Spanish double by signing a dream debut in an international Gran Turismo competition.
The third of the Spanish, Manuel Rodríguez ( TRL_MANURODRY ), completed a good role in the European final but even though he fought in all the tests, he could only sign an 11th place in the final, which left him with no options to contest the world finals of this season.
