The launch of Overwatch 2 will be accompanied by a few new features and changes that will leave behind certain systems of the original Overwatch. For example, loot boxes will be gone foreverso that’s got the community wondering what will happen to those crates they have in their possession that haven’t been opened yet.
To reassure everyone, Blizzard has made an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit in which, among other questions, it has answered precisely that. This has indicated that all existing loot boxes will open automatically as soon as the launch of Overwatch 2.
The same will make all the content that is included in them will be added instantly to the account each. As for the credits of the first Overwatchthey will also be transferred automatically, but in this case the company has pointed out that it will enable a new type of currency as the main currency and there will be certain items that can be purchased with the old currencies.
In any case, no user will lose anything, because all the cosmetic items will be preserved as they are perfectly compatible with the sequel, about which it must be remembered that it will be free-to-play. In fact, this reason will be why from time to time seasons will be held with their own free and paid battle passes.
All this will happen from October 4, at which time Overwatch 2 will see the light and the same day in which everything points to it anyone with a copy of the first Overwatch will make the jump to this sequel with their same accounts, whether on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch or PC.
