Everything comes to an end and now it’s the turn of ‘The Great Friend’ (‘L’amica geniale’), the acclaimed adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s novels, has been renewed for a season 4, which will be the last in the series. Ending, in this way, the story written by the author.
The series, a co-production between HBO and the Italian network RAI, is currently in full international broadcast (it was already seen in Italy last month) of ‘The debts of the body’, the subtitle of season 3. Thus, we will finish the saga of Lila and Elena in some new episodes based on ‘The lost girl’.
‘The lost girl’
Set in Naples, the series follows the friendship of two girls in a poor neighborhood in the city. ‘The wonderful friend’ covers various periods of its history as they grow up and navigate their adolescence and adult life. In fact, the third season is set during the 1970s with Elena (Margherita Mazzucco) being a successful author and Lila (Gaia Girace) leaving her husband.
There is no more information about this season 4, but according to the official synopsis of the fourth novel, both women meet again and continue with their lives. However, everything will change when Lila’s daughter disappears. As in the other three seasons, Saverio Costanzo continues to lead the fiction script.
