We had been a while since the project was announced, specifically in the fall of 2020, and we can already see a first and great trailer for ‘Our Flag Means Death‘, the new television comedy from Taika Waititi. HBO Max will premiere the series next March.
The series is inspired by the Stede Bonnet true story, an aristocrat, played by Rhys Darby, who decides to abandon his noble life to become a pirate, eventually allying himself with the very blackbeard, who gives life to Waititi.
The cast is completed with the presence of Kristian Nairn, Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Rory Kinnear, Con O’Neill, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, David Fane, Joel Fry, Guz Khan, and Matthew Maher.
Although the New Zealand filmmaker has executive production duties and directs the first episode, he is not in charge of creating the series, that remains in the hands of David Jenkins (‘People of Earth’). Likewise, Waititi does not stop with his projects since last summer we saw ‘Reservation Dogs’ and soon ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ and ‘El Incal’
