In the past we have seen Batman travel to ancient Japan in an anime movie. Now it was recently revealed that the Knight of the Night will now be reinterpreted to educate you from the Aztec culture in an animated film created entirely in Mexico.
According to Variety, HBO Max Latin America and Anima Studios are working on an animated film called Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires, which will be directed by Juan Meza-León, and will feature the participation of Alejandro Díaz Barriga, an expert in Mesoamerican studies and the ethnic history of Mexico and the Andean region, who will ensure that the indigenous representation portrayed in the film is appropriate and relevant. This is the project description:
“Using the temple of Tzinacán, the bat god, as a lair, Yohualli trains with his mentor and assistant, Acatzin, developing equipment and weaponry to face the Spanish invasion, protect Moctezuma’s temple, and avenge his father’s death.”
On this occasion, Batman will be reinterpreted as Yohualli Coatl, a young warrior who trains with his mentor, Acatzin, and develops equipment and weaponry at the temple of Tzinacán, the bat god. However, after his parents are killed by the Spanish, Coatl will take it upon himself to seek revenge for the loss of his family.
Unfortunately, at the moment there is no release date, but this seems to be one of the most interesting Batman projects for the future. In related topics, important detail of The Batman’s suit is revealed. Similarly, Tim Burton weighs in on the infamous nipples on the suit batmanforever.
Editor’s note:
This project has a lot of potential. Batman is a character that lends itself to being positioned in any period of time and culture. In this way, it will be interesting to see if some of the classic villains will be reimagined as conquerors, if we will see a young Robin.
