Outside of the Android universe, Google is a bit like Apple, the company is not very open to the idea of offering its voice assistant on other OS. The good news is that in this world there are a multitude of ambitious developers determined to make a difference. This is the case with this macOS, Windows and Linux application that allows you to interact with Google Assistant as if you were with an Android smartphone or tablet.
Google Assistant on macOS
Are you tired of Siri on Mac and want to have another voice assistant that maybe can answer your questions more easily? The first port of Google Assistant to macOS is now a reality thanks to the Google Assistant Unofficial Desktop Client application. The developer behind this magnificent idea has taken over the integration of the voice assistant on ChromeOS and offers a window in Light or Dark mode so as not to be out of step with the night mode of macOS.
When you access the application, you have two possibilities, either interact with Google Assistant in writing or orally, you will have a short load to analyze your request and then the information will be displayed on the screen within a few seconds.
From early feedback, once the app is set up, responsiveness and smoothness are similar to the official client. Unfortunately, you will not be able to log in with your Google account and after the first start, you will find the configuration quite difficult.
To help you, the developer has set up a tutorial to be performed from Google’s Actions Console.
