Restomod specialist Gunther Werks has now ready the first example of the radical widened Speedster that he is building on the basis of the Porsche 911 (993). This is based on the attractive 400R Coupé but will feature an even more powerful 6-cylinder engine.
The offer of restomod versions of the classic Porsche 911 increases with the passage of time, as there are not a few workshops that offer enhanced and modernized variants of the fireproof German sports car. One of the most attractive and exquisite offers is the Gunther Werks catalog, which so far it has only presented two versions and these are the first images of a real copy of its latest model.
Although its name may suggest that it is a German company, the truth is that Gunther Werks is a specialist based in Huntington Beach, Californiaand for this reason all its novelties are unveiled at major events on the American west coast. As is the case with its next presentation, a strongly broadened and radicalized speedster based on the 993 generation Porsche 911.
Of this model we have already been able to see some renderings that revealed the design and the main characteristics of this model, which It is very reminiscent of the 400R that was presented during the 2017 edition of SEMA. These first images of the first manufactured copy of the new Speedster Remastered are really an announcement of the arrival of the model, which is going to debut during the events that take place this month in the Monterey Peninsula.
Speedster
Like the Gunther Werks 400R, this new speedster-type variant features a heavily flared body and a considerably more radical frame configuration than the production model on which it is based. The result is the most muscular Porsche 993 that we can find in the market, although it also enjoys a large number of exquisite design details, because like all restomod pieces, this one has been created for the most demanding and capricious customers.
At the moment we can only confirm that a flat 6-cylinder engine and a 6-speed Porsche manual transmission will be available under the rear hood, but their performance remains a mystery. The Californian company has limited itself to confirming this limited edition variant will have an even more powerful mechanics than the 400R, which delivered 441 PS (435 hp) and a maximum torque of 427 Nm.
