Guardians of the Galaxy All this time it would have had a secret protagonist that would not be Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord. James Gunn He has just confirmed it and if we look carefully the clues have always been there.
When the filmmaker released the first film in this trilogy back in 2014, no one expected anything in particular with this adaptation of a group of Marvel heroes who weren’t so popular.
In the end Gunn was catapulted to the big leagues and the film of these characters remains to date as one of the best in the entire world. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Then, after the premiere of the second part, the scandal that everyone knows happened and that led the director to be temporarily exiled from the company to later return and revive the project of his trilogy.
We had as a prelude an endearing Christmas special and an interesting cameo in the Thor: Love and Thunder tape. Now almost everything is ready to see the outcome of this saga and it turns out that there will be a surprise.
Since completely unexpectedly it turns out that one of the main characters would actually be the secret protagonist of this film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will show the true hero of the saga
SPOILER ALERT: We recommend reading cautiously from this point on if you don’t want to spoil any potential surprises about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
James Gunn has just been interviewed by the people of Empire, providing an interesting talk about his current projects and the whole thing with the new Guardians of the Galaxy tape.
The director spoke about the character of Peter and how he continues to be a disaster in many ways with the evolution of his maturity and the conflicts of affections and ties that he must face at times.
But the surprise came when he shared his opinion about who would actually be the main character in this trilogy that is about to come to an end:
“For me, Rocket has always been the secret protagonist of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. You’ve never seen Rocket in any movie doing anything that wasn’t altruistic.
All the things he has done have been for his friends. He is not a hero according to the classical conception. That’s why for me telling his story is very important.”
If we remember the final scene of Volume 2, during the funeral and the light show, the last sequence, the one that closed the tape, focused on Rocket and how Yondu’s sacrifice left him scarred.
So everything indicates that Gunn has long thought about the relevance of this peculiar hero.
