Director of Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn, takes advantage of the fall of Facebook to trolling fans who are hunting the easter egg
It’s rare that a movie director is as famous as his cast and as synonymous with his material as Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.
In the years after Guardians of the Galaxy 2014, Gunn has taken his unique style of movie watching not only into the sequel, but also into Suicide squad from DC, all while actively sharing and interacting with his growing fanbase on social media.
A recurring theme between Gunn and his Marvel fans is related to a legendary Easter egg from Guardians of the Galaxy, which the director claims was only partially discovered in the years after the film was released in 2014.
Now, taking advantage of yesterday’s big Facebook outage, Gunn turned to Twitter to bring it up again and have a little fun with your Easter egg hunt fans.
In reference to the search for the famous Guardians of the Galaxy Easter egg, and possibly the other one that he hid in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Gunn tweeted that he had finally revealed the secret «On Facebook for all to see»:
“I just posted the big Guardians Easter Egg on Facebook for all to see.”

However, he shared this tweet during a Facebook service outage that was trending for hours, meaning Gunn trolling his fans once again.
The star of the Guardians of the GalaxyDave Bautista took part in the Twitter joke by commenting with a row of emojis, as did the actress who plays Mantis, Pom Klementieff.
The endless hunt for the Guardians of the Galaxy Easter eggs
While Gunn’s signature style coupled with his bold and colorful style is distinctive and rare, his relevance and willingness to interact with fans is even more so and something movie fans would love to see from other directors.
Still, the fact remains that the original Easter egg from Guardians of the Galaxy director’s has yet to be fully discovered, and the same goes for the Easter egg he hid in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Now that Gunn has completed the script for Volume 3, the director is likely to hide another one in the school and possibly do the same in the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special.
Unless fans accept the challenge, the director could end his Guardians franchise with an undefeated record when it comes to successfully hiding secrets and references from fans.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Its premiere date is scheduled for May 5, 2023.
