The soccer player with the most appearances in the Mexican National Team defended the Argentine captain.
“El Canelo” does not understand how a locker room works,” he added in an interview.
David Faitelson and “Kun” are some of the personalities who expressed their opinion on the matter.
The captain of the Mexican National Team, Andrés Guardado, shared his opinion about the controversy that broke out once the boxer Saúl “el Canelo” Álvarez was offended by a video where he supposedly saw the Argentine star, Lionel Messi, kicking a T-shirt from Mexico, presumably that of Andrés himself. This occurred minutes after Argentina defeated “Tri” by a score of 2-0.
However, fans from both Mexico and Argentina, and opinion leaders in the sport spoke out, some defending the boxer, and others the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Guardado defends Messi and “teaches” Canelo how a locker room works
El Canelo, after the defeat of Mexico, lashed out on Twitter against the 10 from Rosario, pointing out that he had cleaned the floor with the country’s flag. After this, endless comments supported and criticized his position. Some defended the boxer, pointing out that he was “standing up for Mexico”, while others defended Messibecause they explain that in the video you can see how the soccer player tries to take off his boots and with the movement he manages to move the shirt.
Anyone who doesn’t defend their homeland is an asshole… fanaticism is one thing, your identity is another. LONG LIVE MEXICO CABRONES🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽

What he was told, however, is that there were also Argentine shirts on the ground, although the boxer ignored it, to the extent that he even shared a private conversation he had with America’s winger, Miguel Layún, to reaffirm his position. .

Among the footballers and personalities who expressed their opinion on the matter, there are international names such as the “Kun” Agüero and Cesc Fábregaswho sought to show Canelo in different media what coexistence in a locker room really is like and explain what the shirt means to them.
This was what they commented on Twitter:
You neither know the person, nor do you understand how a locker room works or what happens after a game. ALL t-shirts, even the ones we wear ourselves, go on the floor and are washed afterwards. And more when you celebrate an important victory. https://t.co/dWwFKXdIUS

Mr. Canelo, don’t look for excuses or problems, surely you don’t know about soccer and what happens in a locker room. The shirts are always on the floor after the games are over due to sweat and then if you see well, he makes the movement to remove the booty and accidentally hits it. https://t.co/zfftTXH3JB

Andrés Guardado, in an interview, was questioned about the dispute that the boxer started, pointing out the following:
“I have had the fortune and the privilege of facing him for many years in Spain and I know the person Leo is. Unfortunately, Canelo does not understand what is experienced in the locker room and that is why I can understand the reaction of being offended by seeing the Mexico shirt on the ground, but to me it really seems silly”.
Andres Guardado Captain of @seleccionmx just swept the floor with the face of @canelo. “We know the kind and quality of person that Messi is, Canelo does not know what he is talking about, he is nonsense, all this was generated to get publicity” pic.twitter.com/meSMnjrXmQ

This Said Faitelson
Some other journalists also joined the conversation, some of them supporting the boxer’s point of view and many others being critical of his statements. However, the one who caught Canelo’s attention the most and to whom he even answered was David Faitelson, to whom he also said the phrase “you are not Mexican”, referring to the journalist’s childhood.
David Faitelson shared this video on Twitter in response, where he ended the discussion by noting “money does not give you education, much less intelligence.”
A soccer player’s shirt is not the flag of a country… Let’s not fall into a false patriotism, nationalism. The honor of a nation is not at stake, only the honor of football, period… pic.twitter.com/6vp59ZQ9c9
