Grand Touring 7 is the latest installment of the racing simulator PolyphonyDigital, which has had a controversial launch for needing an internet connection to play and for its use of microtransactions. Because of this, users have left negative reviews on metacritic which made it the lowest rated on PlayStation.
Since its release there has been criticism that Gran Turismo 7 requires an internet connection to play, which upset players when a 30+ hour maintenance prevented them from being able to play this week. This is one of the reasons why users left negative reviews on Metacritic, but it was not the only one.

Another major complaint Gran Turismo 7 players have had is its microtransactions, as the game has recently reduced the rewards per race, making it more difficult to get the credits needed to buy cars while playing. In addition, the price of DLC cars have increased up to 10 times compared to GT Sport.
“So sad that Polyphony Digital went the way of Rockstar and EA”, reads one of the negative Metacritic reviews that gave Gran Turismo 7 a zero rating. “Say hello to another game that ruined its economy right after the release/review window”, says another player who claims to be a long-time fan of the series and who has noticed questionable decisions since GT5.

Some of the comments say that a game with such a focus on microtransactions should be free-to-play, while another review just says “The game requires to be always online for one player, and the servers are constantly down for maintenance”.
