In the last hours, the veteran creator of the Gran Turismo series, Kazunori Yamauchi, has revealed numerous details of the operation of Gran Turismo 7, which will arrive at the beginning of next year 2022. Beyond the already known mandatory internet connection for the mode campaign of the game, the Japanese creative has had the opportunity to talk about some differences and new functions of the versions of PS5 and PS4.
For example, one of the things that was not discussed during the announcement of the PS4 version of Gran Turismo 7 is that there will be some parity between versions as far as functions are concerned, since both will have dynamic meteorology and a night and day cycle. Still, “the quality you will see will be different,” says Yamauchi in an interview with Eurogamer. This parity at the systems level is due to the fact that Gran Turismo 7 will feature cross-gen multiplayer, so PS4 and PS5 players will be able to play together.
The thing is not there, since the creative has discussed other details of the game, such as the collision and deformation engine, which is “Basically the same” than GT Sport, but “slightly improved” **. The development of the game would have started right after the launch of this latest installment, in 2017. Time in which they have had the opportunity to even add the new functions of the PS5 DualSense controller. “Things like using the adaptive triggers to recreate the vibrations of the ABS when it is working.”
“What is most important to me is the precision of the controls that the new controller allows,” adds the creative. “Before there were things that really could only be done with a steering wheelbut now you should be able to do everything you can do on a steering wheel with a DualSense controller. ‘
The only thing Yamauchi hasn’t wanted to reveal details about yet is the VR implementation. “We are not in a state where we can talk about it yet.” They may be waiting for the final presentation of PSVR 2. In either case, Gran Turismo 7 will go on sale next March 4, 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
