New rumors point to Google would have canceled Kojima’s exclusive for Stadia for being a single-player. The man acclaimed for his work in creating the Metal Gear franchise would go on to found his own studio, Kojima Productions, which has been established for his narrative games. Now, recent reports have confirmed that Hideo Kojima was once working to develop, alongside teams at Google, a major Stadia-exclusive game.
A news outlet report from Google 9to5Google claims that Hideo Kojima had been working with Google on a game from the Death Stranding universe. The game was reportedly planned to be an exclusively single-player experience for Stadia, seeing a departure from the asynchronous multiplayer elements of Death Stranding. According to the report, Stadia doubted the viability of single-player games and shelved the project after seeing the first builds in 2020.
