Today Google has announced a surprise for Gmail, because in its blog the company talks about certain changes that have been implemented to improve the customization of this product, which is used by millions of people around the world.
And it is not that Gmail cannot be personalized, the situation is that it is not as simple and fast as in other products, because to make adjustments based on our tastes we have to navigate between menus and apply changes one by one.
For this reason, the changes that Google has made are welcome, although it is important to mention that they will only be available in the web version since this is where the company allows each user to personalize Gmail in the most appropriate way for each personality.
What changes come to Gmail?
It is a new quick configuration menu that will allow us to easily use different designs, settings and themes for Gmail.
Currently clicking the settings button at the top right of Gmail displays a menu with items such as content density, themes, inbox settings and more, however, to modify each of these items. A new menu opens in which we have to go looking and applying the adjustments we need.
With the new menu, all these options are available at a single click from the same configuration button, and the changes will be applied immediately without taking us to another menu, so we will be able to see quickly and at that moment how the new configuration is applied to choose the best one that best suits what we need.
The custom settings menu includes:
- Customize text density and information displayed
- Change inbox type to help prioritize and organize emails intelligently
- Add reading panes to quickly view email content
- Apply themes to customize the appearance of your inbox
Basically we are talking about the same settings that already exist, but with a faster way to access them.
When will these changes come?
The update has begun to reach several users for a few days, although the first to test these features will be G Suite users, however, according to Google, this option will be available to all users in the world, and the deployment will continue to be progressive, so it is expected that no later than the beginning of August all users with a Gmail account (school, work or personal) will see this new settings menu.
