Android 11 in its beta version has been with us for a few weeks, however, for now only very few devices are able to install this version and test the new functions that Google has worked on for its new operating system. In fact, in order to bring application developers much closer to Android developers, the company carried out a Q&A (Questions and Answers) on Reddit to learn more about developments on Android 11.
Here, a question that stood out a lot among developers was the issue of elongated screenshots, a function that has been natively requested on Android for a long time, and with which references were discovered in Android 11 code.
Google removed this feature
During the interaction, Google engineers mentioned that the elongated screenshots will not reach Android 11, it was a function that was planned, but it had to be ultimately eliminated because it did not have the performance and quality desired by the company.
According to the people of Mountain View, at the moment they have not managed to make the elongated screenshots work well on all Android devices because the company says that it does not want to follow the steps of other manufacturers where they take a screenshot and then join it. through software.
They mention that this method does not work in all Android applications, so if they are going to launch this feature they must make sure that absolutely all applications are compatible with this function.
Most manufacturers have this tool included in their phones, however, in this case, every manufacturer that implements it should make sure that it works smoothly for their phones while in Google’s case they have to make sure that a new feature works in the thousands of models available with Android, which is why many times there are functions that we find in Samsung, Huawei or Xiaomi phones but that are not natively in Android.
We will have to wait and see if Android 12 continuous or elongated screenshots become a native part of the operating system.
