Nowadays, it is common to have our private information stored either in the cloud or directly on our mobile devices. That is why we must be very careful with the type of applications and permissions that we grant, although in the case of Googlethey forgot to ask for authorization and without the consent of the users, they have been collecting confidential information in a very stealthy way.
It so happens that according to a study conducted by the Trinity College Dublinthe applications of Messages and Phone on devices Android has been sending data to Google without the authorization of the users, something that is obviously a violation of privacy. But how exactly does this happen? We will explain it to you below.
In the application of Postseach time the user receives or sends a SMS, this app records data such as the date and time the text was sent or received, the sender’s phone number and an identifier. These data are sent through the services Clearcut from Google Play Services, and Firebase from Analytics. Namely, Google It has a detailed list of all the people with whom you have sent messages, the same case with the Telephone application that records the time and duration of the call.
Publisher’s note: Given how sensitive this information can be, it is surprising that a company as large as Google has dared to collect private data without the user’s consent. This is sure to raise a lot of red flags amongst the community, and it looks like we’ll need to be a lot more careful with our information.
